Ravi Johar, Principal
Ravi Joharhas had extensive experience in corporate lending, treasury and project finance in India, Australia and HK. He has been involved with risk management since 1988 when he was in Australia working at the treasury of Export Finance and Insurance Corporation, Sydney. He became familiar with the Basel I processes at that point and has been interested in Risk management ever since.
Later (2001-2004) he was for a time running his own risk management consulting in India, training banks in aspects of the impending Basel II, creating a Basel II credit engine and developing risk ratings systems for small banks.
From mid-2005 to early 2006 he was working in USA as a Basel II Subject Matter Expert at a couple of projects being managed by IBM, at Citibank in New York and Wachovia bank in Charlotte.
From April 2006 to March 2009 he worked at two major banks in the GCC; first as the Program Director with Samba Financial Group in Riyadh which is the first and the largest IRB program in the Middle East and later. Here he helped manage the evolution of rating systems, establishing Basel II data architecture and supervised the Pillar II processes of the bank. From April 2008 onwards he was Head of Basel II and Risk Architecture at the Commercial Bank of Qatar in Doha.
He holds an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management and the Diploma of securities Institute of Australia (Financial Markets).
